KNX ENO 620/622
KNX ENO 620 and 622 serve as gateways between EnOcean radio sensors and the EIB/KNX bus and offer additional control functionality. A device has 32 sensor channels, each of which can be configured with one of the following functions:
- Switch module touch sensor:
- Switching (on/off/toggling/sending value/scene/staircase light)
- Dimming
- Blind up/down - Switch with on/off delay:
- Transmitter for room or security card keys
- Time switch
- Position switch
- Foot switch
- Chair switch
- Binary input - Temperature sensor with the following selectable options:
- Presence key and switch
- Set point control
- Multiple contact switch
- Humidity sensor - Window handle and window contact
- Light sensor
- Motion detector
In addition, the device contains six control channels that can be connected with the communication objects of a sensor channel or of an external EIB/KNX sensor. The following control types can be selected for each channel:
- Light, continuous
- Light, on/off
- Temperature, continuous
- Temperature, on/off
- Common 2-byte-float, on/off
- Common 0...255 (0...100 %), on/off
Device
KNX ENO 620/622 is shipped in a on-wall mounted housing, for operating the EIB/KNX has to be connected. The KNX ENO 620 and 622 devices differ only in the housing; their functions are identical. KNX ENO 620 has a particularly compact design. KNX ENO 622 is suitable for mounting on a recessed wall box or on material with poor radio penetration properties (e.g. metal or concrete).
Configuration
The function of each channel is selected with the ETS software by parameter. Depending on the selected function the enocean telegrams are mapped to up to 6 communication objects. After programming the device with ETS the radio sensors can be learned. For that purpose two keys and a LCD are placed in the device. While learning a channel the LCD shows the actual channel number and assignement. Touch sensors can be configured as one-key control or as rocker. Up to 4 keys/rockers can be connected to one channel.
If function "Window contact" is chosen as well up to 4 window sensors or handels can be linked with one channel. "Window open" is signaled via EIB/KNX, if at least one window is opened, "Window closed" is transmitted only, if all windows are closed. With functions for temperature, humidity and brightness chosen only one sensor per channel can be assigned. The input values of the controller can be handled by the communication objects of a sensor channel or any KNX device with suitable communication objects.
Configuration: KNX ENO Tool
The KNX ENO Tool software can be used to configure the Links between various EnOcean-Sensors and the KNX/EIB EnOcean-Gateway KNX ENO 620/622. The device configuration of the Gateway can be read, modified, exported and saved back to either the same or another Gateway. EnOcean Bus Monitor showing the EnOcean Telegrams send over the KNX Bus.

Application example: heating controller
The above figure shows an example of temperature control setup. Both the current temperature and the set value adjustment are sent by a room operating unit. The controller in the gateway calculates the con-trol value and sends it to the heating valve via the KNX bus. If a presence detector or a window contact are integrated in the system, their values can be taken into account by the controller to achieve an optimal level of energy efficiency.
Application example: light controller
Another example of how to use this system to save energy is the light control system based on KNX ENO 620/622, as shown in the next figure.
By parametering the device accordingly, an energy saving function can be implemented in which the user can switch on the light as needed. The controller switches off the light automatically if the user clearly forgot to switch it off. The automatic mechanism does not interfere with the user and residents or employees can switch on or off the light according to their own needs. The system can optionally be parameterised to switch on the light automatically.
List of compatible devices
In the following table all device tested with the gateway are listed. Devices constructed in the same way or sensors with compabtile telegram format to the listed below can be used also with the gateway.
